The process

Miguel owner of macaw coatings with walk behind grinder with vacuum attached ready to prep the floor

Grinding

Grinding is the cornerstone of a quality coating installation. By using our walk-behind grinders, we can prep your floor to the correct profile to guarantee proper adhesion of our coating.

Cleaning

As a floor coating contractor, we know an important step in the preparation process is to keep the dust out of the customer’s home or office and to have a dust free floor before applying any coating.  Therefore, we use the newest vacuums to ensure a safe, clean and healthy work environment.

Patching

To ensure that your floor will look rejuvenated and smooth after the grinding prep, we use an epoxy patch to fill any cracks, holes, divots or any other blemish on your floor. That way when your coating is installed, the damaged area will not be visible.

Primer

Once the grinding, vacuuming, and patching are complete we will install a primer which provides better adhesion by penetrating into the concrete substrate, allowing a better bond. Primers provide a better chemical bond when used in combination with grinding.. This results in a much more durable and long-lasting concrete floor coating.

Body coat

Our body coat consists of a full broadcast of flake that is broadcast into the primer. The body coat is the one that is visible on the floor, so extra care is taken to make sure it would be appropriate for the final appearance of the coating.

Clear Coat

The clear coat is a vital part of the whole coating process. Not only does it provide the sheen desired, but also acts as a wear coat that will protect your floor and makes it easier to maintain and clean.

    Grinding

Having the right equipment means the difference between a nightmare or a process that will flow seamlessly.  Our grinders create a uniform profile on the floor, while our vacuums prevent silica dust from becoming airborne and posing a health risk for our customers and staff. Nobody likes dust flying into their homes!

    Edge Work

With Macaw Coatings we ensure everything is done correctly, so we use a hand-held grinder to profile hard to reach areas where our big grinders can't reach.

    Full Broadcast

At Macaw coatings we value our customers. To produce an exceptional product, we take steps to ensure the proper profiling of the floor by grinding. This is one of the most important steps in the process of coating a floor. We use a walk-behind grinder attached to our vacuum to profile and leave an even floor. Vacuuming is crucial to a dustless and clean work environment, making it safe for our customers and installers, as well as leaving a clean room when complete. This is also crucial for proper adhesion of our Polyaspartic base coat, where our flake is broadcast into.  Once cured, we scrape to remove excess flake from your floor. An acrylic clear is first applied to seal your floor and to minimize texture on the finished project, while a polyaspartic clear coat ensures a great looking floor for years to come.

    Clear Coat

The clear coat is the last step in the process of your coating. We at Macaw Coatings know the benefits of a quality clear coat- durability, chemical resistance, and of course, the ability to either make your floor shine or have a matte finish.

    A Beautiful Result

When the process is complete, you will be amazed with the coating that was installed by the certified installers at Macaw Coatings.
